Why Use Play Therapy?

Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.”

There is a reason your child spends so much time playing: play is the way that children learn and develop, understand the world around them, and express their feelings.

I use play therapy to speak your child’s language. Since children have a natural tendency towards play, play therapy becomes the medium I play to help my child clients express and process complicated emotions that they may not otherwise be able to express, identify or process.

The following are benefits your child can have by doing play therapy:

  1. Increased ability to express self in healthy way

  2. Increase ability to regulate body and emotions

  3. Help communication with others

  4. Allows expression of feelings in non threatening way

  5. Facilitate healing from past traumatic or stressful events

  6. Decrease undesirable behaviors

  7. Development of independence and creative thinking/ healthy decision making

  8. Increased Social Skills

  9. Increase strong relationship with family members

  10.  Create a Strong Sense of Self and Positive Identity
